Congratulations to all our Graduates and your families! This year’s ceremony is set to be held in person at the W.E. Anderson Stadium on the Langston campus on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Use #LUGRAD22 to tag tweets and photos before, during and after commencement!

Please be aware that the following items are not permitted in the W.E. Anderson Stadium:
Umbrellas, outside food/beverages and weapons of any kind.

Concession stands will have drinks and food available for purchase from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted.

CAP, GOWN, & TASSEL: Cap, gown and tassels are required to participate in commencement. All three of these items can be purchased at the campus bookstore. The total cost of these items is around $40 (included tax) for undergraduates. Master and Doctoral student prices are different. If you would like to call and speak with a member of the Follett bookstore on campus, please feel free to do so by dialing: 405-466-3374. If there are still supplies left by rehearsal, you may purchase your items on campus at the bookstore until 4:00 p.m.

UNDERGRADUATE ONLY: Honors Cords (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude) and department honors: cords may be purchased at the Follett Bookstore on campus. For more information, please call the bookstore at (405) 466-3374.

CAP DECORATIONS: If you choose to decorate your cap, please find the requirements/guidelines below:

  • Decorations should not extend over the brim of the hat.
  • There will be no vulgarity on hat.
  • No alcohol or drug images/paraphernalia will be allowed.
  • Decorations should be no more than ½ inch in height.
  • You must email your design for approval to jabusby@langston.edu.

SENIOR CLASS DUES & TUMBLERS: Dues are $25 and are a donation (meaning optional and not required). The dues will go towards the funds of providing a senior class gift to Langston University. To pay your dues, please see below:

  • Please visit lugiving.webconnex.com/annualgiving to pay your dues online. Please note for online payments: under the purpose of your gift, please specify that it is for Senior Class Dues (in the Dropdown Box.).

ATTIRE

MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL: Friday, May 13th at 1:00 p.m.
• Must attend rehearsal to participate in the ceremony on May 14th.
• Students are to arrive no later than 12:30 p.m.
• Students will report to the Doors leading to the I.W. Young Auditorium.
• Students will receive their tumbler (if paid for).
• Students will receive their name cards to fill out. These will be used for pronunciation of names and photography for the day of Commencement.
• Students will receive graduate medallions.
• Masks will be given to those who wish to wear one.

COMMENCEMENT DAY: Saturday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m.
• Students are to arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.
• If late, the student(s) will not be able to participate in the commencement.
• Students will report to the Doors leading to the Multipurpose Building.
• Parking is open.
• Masks will be given to those who wish to wear one.
• Bring your name card (provided at rehearsal). These will be used for pronunciation of names and photography at the Ceremony.

Commencement Day

This year, we are not requiring tickets for commencement. Should inclement weather arise, two ceremonies will be held inside the C.F. Gayles Gymnasium. One at 10 a.m. and another at 2 p.m. In this case, each student will have four (4) tickets available to their families.

During commencement, the traffic in and around Langston is typically extremely heavy. Parking is available at no cost, and no passes are required for general parking in any of the open lots. Please note that parking on the grass on campus is strictly prohibited as campus beautification is in progress.

  • Golf carts will be available to assist in transporting guests to the Stadium.
  • Handicapped Seating is Available.
  • Handicapped Parking is available in front of the Physical Plant Building.

All faculty members are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m. and report to the Gymnasium. Continental Breakfast will be served at 7:00 a.m. Order your regalia in advance.

All volunteers will need to be prepared to attend the mandatory dress rehearsal and report to the Stadium at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 7:30 a.m. and report to the second floor of the C.F. Gayles Gymnasium on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
